Details: Gattonside (circa 1885) is a magnificent Victorian Mansion. Designed by Henry Hunter and is National Trust and Heritage listed. It opened as a luxury B & B in January 1999 and is the perfect choice for that special place to stay. For both the leisure and business traveller, it offers a tranquil haven at the end of a busy day. Gattonside is set in an acre of picturesque gardens, in historic battery Point, Hobart, just 400 metres from the city and Salamanca, where the popular Salamanca market is held. Restaurants are just a short stroll away. It is an ideal place to base yourself while exploring the surrounding areas of Huon and Derwent Valleys, Tasman Peninsula, Richmond & Bruny Island. The Property has a beautiful dining room, with bay windows, looking to the wonderful old oak tree. You are tempted here each morning with a selection of continental & cooked breakfasts. Perhaps the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon & chives & oven-roasted tomatoes will be your choice! There is also a guest's loungeroom which adjoins the huge verandah adorned with wisteria, lavender & roses.
