Nimmitabel is a small rural township on the Great Dividing Range, at 1070 metres. Settled in the 1850s, it was once known as Nimity Bell, a name said to mean the place where many waters start.
You can explore the historic village including Geldmacher House and Mill and St Andrew's Catholic Church by taking a walk around town. There is a self-guided booklet available from Cooma Visitors Centre.
Nimmitabel now host a very special event the first weekend in May - Steampunk at Altitude, not to be missed. 2020 will be its fourth year and the event is growing each year.
